Meet Coach Dan
Daniel R. Sick, ph.D. Student
Board Certified Master Mental Health Coach
Certified Intercultural Leadership Coach
There are no blank pages in anyone’s life—well, maybe the ones that have yet to be written.
As a coach, Daniel loves to come alongside a person and help him or her discover what treasures are hidden in that person’s life. Let it be strengths or special events the person has celebrated or weaknesses and negative things that have weighed the person down. Each element has contributed to the personality of everyone of us. Daniel is passionate about discovering how to use what has been handed to us to create a fulfilling life. Add cross-cultural elements into that mix, and I get excited to discuss creating an interesting and fulfilled life.
Life has taken me many places. I have traveled through the Andes mountains, and dove in the depth of the seemingly unending Pacific Ocean. I have built beautiful traditional houses in Germany and drove a semi truck on American highways. I love country music, local Ecuadorian food, like to enjoy a glass of Bourbon and am proud of my wife and kids. After working for six years as a German carpenter I had a special encounter with God and knew that I was supposed to work as a missionary. For fifteen years, my wife and I have invested our lives into the local communities of Yap, Micronesia (Yes, this place really exists. Look it up.) and in Ecuador. I have worked as a pastor, teacher, mediator, youth director, and church planter. I have also worked as a translator for organizations like Samaritans Purse and at a SWAT team training (so cool). All the while living in these countries, I mastered three languages and became an expert in Cross-Cultural Leadership and Intercultural Coaching. But the most rewarding blessings of all is being married to my beautiful and smart wife Dana. Together we have had the privilege of raising five wonderfully talented children, while enjoying wonderfully adventurous life as a family.
Needless to say, as a family, we have had to plan and work through many new starts and had to say goodbye to quite a few friends. We had to pack suitcases countless times, have celebrate the closing one life’s chapter, and learned to pursue new milestones with confidence. And as life has shaped us, we have learned a few things. It is our hope that you will benefit from the experiences and wisdom we have gained throughout the last three decades.
Daniel calls the world his home. Raised in Germany, he first learned the carpentry trade before being called to become a full-time minister. After seminary, he moved with his wife and first son to the mission field in Micronesia. Four years later, the family of five was relocated by their mission to Ecuador, where the family grew to 7 people altogether. Daniel has worked for the last two decades as a pastor, bible school teacher, mediator, coach, counselor, reconstruction, translator, a truck driver, and most recently started his work as an Intercultural Life & Leadership Coach.
