Intercultural Ministry
Ministering in a different culture has its own challenges that should not be neglected. Preach a sermon out of context, and people will be confused. Preach with the home culture in mind, and people might even be offended. Oh, and not all conflicts are resolved by talking directly with the person who caused the issue. Did I mention the embarrassing situations when the wrong words are used to communicate a biblical truth?
Intercultural Ministry Coaching can give you a framework that will help you not only eliminate the biggest cross-cultural issues but also learn to appreciate and enjoy the differences.
Sermon Coaching
It is one thing to prepare a sermon that is true to God’s revealed Word; it is another to touch the hearts of the people and make an impact with what God has for them. Sermon Coaching offers training in the basics of sermon preparation and evaluation of your current preaching style. Along the way, you will also learn how the cultural environment is key to delivering a sermon that transforms lives.
While the art of preaching can always be improved, we can help you set a foundation that will make that text-to-speech connection that touches people’s lives.
Organizational Leadership
Every Minister is a Leader, whether you feel like it or not. Harsh words, I know. But it’s true. Even more so within the Intercultural Ministry background. As a minister, whether volunteer or paid, you are seen by most as a leader. And leadership is challenging. Coach Daniel has had the privilege - and the challenge - of being an ordained minister for more than two decades. He has held positional leadership roles and experienced personal leadership challenges. His experiences might be the tools you need to avoid repeating the mistakes he made.
There are amazing ministry tools out there. In fact, there is so much that it can be overwhelming to find the right one. This section will present ministry tools that have helped me do my job and advance over the last three decades.
Recommended Apps & Tools
LOGOS BiBle Software
LOGOS Bible Software has been the perfect tool for me as a missionary. I was first introduced to it in 1997 and was glad I invested in a Library I could take along wherever I went. But LOGOS is not just a library; it serves me as a research tool for my PhD studies, a sermon preparation tool, and a tool for digging deeper into a thought when listening to sermons.
Ulysses
A WRITING tool that has shaped most of my academic papers and sermon writing. ULYSSES shines in the simplicity to jot down notes and sort them later. Setting word-count goals for specific paper ranges is as easy as exporting the data in a specific format - say APA7. I highly recommend this tool and combine it with a good recording hearset for dictation.
NOtion
NOTION is one of those tools that claim to do it all. And there is certainly a lot you can to with it, but you still have to put the effort into learning the software, setting up databases, and more. But once set up, it will change your life. Organize client databases, store thoughts in a system (and find them again), and set and monitor goals and action steps - to name a few.
