Intercultural Ministry
Ministering in a different culture has its own challenges that should not be neglected. Preach a sermon out of context, and people will be confused. Preach with the home culture in mind, and people might even be offended. Oh, and not all conflicts are resolved by talking directly with the person who caused the issue. Did I mention the embarrassing situations when the wrong words are used to communicate a biblical truth?

What is Intercultural Ministry?
Ministry is any work you do to connect people with God and one another. This could be spirutual work like church work, counseling, educational work or other forms of leading spiritually. However, ministry is also attending to the physical and mental needs of people, like food kitchens, soccer camps, hospital and clinic work, or building projects.
Intercultural simply means that you do ministry within a culture that is not your own. I alwasy thought that Germany and North American are rather similar. But I tell you, they are different culturally. So, even though I seemed to be one of the Americans, I still worked in Intercultural ministry. - But most of the times, intercultural or cross-cultural ministry is seen to be working in a different country or even continent.
Intercultural vs. cross-cultural. The key difference is that of relationship. Cross-cultural simply means working with a different culture. I even see cross-cultural ministry as somewhat difficult, since the missionary might see himself as superior. For me, intercultural ministry means doing ministry with the goal of building relationships and bringing people together. But I might be splitting hairs here.
Intercultural Sermons
It is one thing to prepare a sermon true to God’s revealed Word; it is another to touch people's hearts and make an impact with what God has for them. LOGOS BiBle
LOGOS Bible Software has been the perfect tool for me as a missionary. I was first introduced to it in 1997 and was glad I invested in a Library I could take along wherever I went. But LOGOS is not just a library; it serves me as a research tool for my PhD studies, a sermon preparation tool, and a tool for digging deeper into a thought when listening to sermons.
Ulysses
A WRITING tool that has shaped most of my academic papers and sermon writing. ULYSSES shines in the simplicity to jot down notes and sort them later. Setting word-count goals for specific paper ranges is as easy as exporting the data in a specific format - say APA7. I highly recommend this tool and combine it with a good recording hearset for dictation.
NOtion
NOTION is one of those tools that claim to do it all. And there is certainly a lot you can to with it, but you still have to put the effort into learning the software, setting up databases, and more. But once set up, it will change your life. Organize client databases, store thoughts in a system (and find them again), and set and monitor goals and action steps - to name a few.
